New permanent secretary Visits IDP camps in Rift Valley Print E-mail

NEW P.S. VISITS IDP CAMPS IN RIFT VALLEY

The new Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of State for Special Programmes made a familiarisation tour of areas where the Post Election Violence IDPs have settled down. The tour mainly an assessment mission of what the government has done and what is still outstanding took the PS and Senior Ministry staff to Mai Mahiu, Gilgil Nakuru and Eldoret.

During the tour, the P.S. said that his Ministry had only been allocated a measly KShs. 145million for the resettlement programme in the current financial year 2010/2011.

He added that KShs. 1.4 billion had been allocated to the Ministry of Lands to buy arable land for the Internally Displaced Persons. With regards to the Ministerial Allocation, The P.S. said that his Ministry will work with development partners to source for money for the resettlement exercise.
